Teams work together better
The basic, obvious reason for team building activities and outings is that it usually leads to teams working together with more efficiency and cohesion. Specific problem solving
Not all team building activities and initiatives have to exist for general reasons such as overall positivity. An entirely valid reason for organising such an event is to work on solving a specific issue to a specific team.
Depending on the issue of the team, your chosen activity should directly address the problem. If you have a new member or two on board, the activity should be targeted at getting to know one another. If the team is below par when it comes to working together well, the activity should involve an element of problem solving. If the issue relates to a low morale, the activity should focus on enjoyment – and so on and so forth. In this case, be sure to follow up with your team members after the event to gauge its success.
