3 sweet things to bake for Valentine’s Day

VictorsFood-bake-for-Valentines

Valentine’s Day is upon us again, and one wonderful tried and tested gift idea is to simply make your loved one something gorgeous to eat together on the 14th.

Try out one (or all three) of these sweet ideas for your sweetheart.

Heart-shaped cake

A heart-shaped cake is actually a lot easier than you might think! Simply make a double batch of your loved one’s favourite cake recipe (if you don’t know it, rich chocolate is ideal for Valentine’s) and bake them in a square and a circle cake pan.

Once baked and then cooled, cut the round cake in half, and place the cut sides against two adjacent sides of the square cake. Once you ice it, it will look like a perfect love heart!

Chocolate covered strawberries

It doesn’t get much easier than chocolate covered strawberries, but it doesn’t get much more romantic, either.

Be sure to use ripe strawberries and the best-quality chocolate you can afford. Try using white, milk and dark chocolate for a range of visually appealing treats. You can even add a splash of red food dye to melted white chocolate, then drizzle over already-cooled chocolate strawberries for extra flair.

Red velvet cupcakes

Red velvet has shot to the top of the popularity charts in recent years for its glorious rich red colour and a texture that gives it its name – velvet. With buttery flavours that mix chocolate and vanilla with a sharp hit of the cream cheese topping, these cupcakes are an absolute favourite and a sure-fire hit with your loved one.

We love this recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction, but feel free to add extra loved-up decoration (such as red sprinkles or hearts) to top them off.

Of course, if you’re unsure how to go about making your loved one a delicious meal, you can always give him or her (and yourself) a cooking class with VictorsFood!
